I recently came upon this free service (they also have an upgraded membership package for $99).  ShowTickets4Locals.com.  Basically, you sign-up and they will e-mail you with show availability notices.  After all the free tickets are gone, you can get offers for 2 for 1 tickets.  It seems pretty good.
